Support a local clean energy project
Your voice will make a difference.
Public support for solar energy remains consistently high. According to the Spring 2025 Public Attitudes Tracker (DESNZ), 80% of UK residents support the use of renewables for electricity, heat, and fuel, with solar being one of the most popular sources. A 2023 survey also found that 94% of people living near solar farms are either supportive or neutral, with support increasing significantly once sites become operational. While there may be initial uncertainty during the development phase, the long-term benefits of clean, local energy are widely recognised by communities.
Upland Solar can play a meaningful role in meeting the UK’s clean energy goals. Both the Government’s Energy Security Strategy and the Climate Change Committee stress the need for a diverse, flexible mix of homegrown energy. Epping Forest District Council has acknowledged the need for local climate action and embedded sustainability objectives in its planning framework. Upland Solar would support these ambitions—enhancing energy resilience, reducing carbon emissions, and helping to lower long-term energy costs. Submitting a positive comment on this application is a simple but powerful way to support a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for our district.
